▴ Waterford Chenin Blanc 2018

Waterford Chenin Blanc 2018, Stellenbosch

I am totally enchanted with this wine. It’s made from very old Chenin vines, the oldest planted in 1966; the wine was fermented, and aged, in concrete egg-shaped vessels. It’s lightly perfumed, and the palate reveals layers of white peach and pear, with a lick of cold stone and exhilarating acidity. The purity and depth of fruit is striking, and most of all, the wine exudes energy. It’s beautifully balanced and very very classy.
