▴ O’Leary Walker Polish Hill Riesling 2016

O’Leary Walker Polish Hill Riesling 2016, Clare Valley, South Australia

It’s quite unusual to find any white wine that is this good at this price (£12.99) with five years bottle age on it, especially in a UK supermarket. As a result, I’ve been happily filling my Waitrose trolley with several bottles of late. The citrus aromatics are lovely and, right now, the bottle age is bringing some subtle honey, kerosene and toast notes. On the palate, it’s bone dry, light-bodied (just 11.5%) but beautifully intense and more-ishly thirst-quenching. Pure lime/lemon and grapefruit flavours alongside piercing acidity glide into a long mineral finish. And no need to drink it up just yet. This will be good for another two to three years.
