Nyetimber 1086 Vintage Rose 2013, West Sussex, England

A blend of Pinot Noir (64%) and Chardonnay (36%), from Nyetimber’s best vineyard parcels in West Sussex. Elegantly pale salmon-pink hue. Lovely precise red fruit nose with a touch of honeycomb. On the palate, this dry with succulent strawberry fruit, pomegranate and creamy nougat topped off by a long saline finish. Everything is perfectly judged – bags of complexity, sublime acidity, featherweight texture and supreme balance. Good with food or as an indulgent aperitif, this is the best English sparkling wine that I have tasted to date. Bottled in May 2014 and disgorged in 2020, it is fully deserving of its Prestige Cuvee status and £175 price tag.
